confirmed identity of alyssa. i have notified her father. >>reporter: authorities in nevada had been key part of the search because she was headed toward the horizon hotel in lake tahoe, nevada but her body was found about half mile away from the snow globe concert she had been attending which is in south lake tahoe, california. investigators say she may have been disoriented during her walk. >> if she was heading to the horizon in nevada she was going the wrong direction. >>reporter: alyssa body found on the other side of snow berm. investigators say she was fully clothed and no signs of foul my and nothing to lead them to believe she had been hit by a car. but there are still details that have to be ironed out. including one report that she had been seen at the horizon hotel just after the snow globe concert fichlt that person did sea her it is possible that she jumped on a shuttle or got a ride back to the snow globe area so we have got a lot of leg work still to do. >>reporter: investigators are lacking for footprints in the snow and other clue to piece together what happened. al

will see showers for the morning hours. in the sierra nevada they are starting to get some snow. it is coming up from the south, and you can see it is a mild storm. it is resulting in the possibility of a couple inches of snow. not expected to be a big snow maker. the snow levels are running high and it will be above 7,000 feet. the temperatures right now are 40s and 50s. it was certainly a cooler day today. the visibility as you will notice with some fog developing down to 3 miles in novato. when you head out the door you will not only face the showers, but the fog. so keep that in mind. the rain continues overnight and damp for the morning drive and a chance of rain for this weekend. do not can sell your plans. it is not going to be a wash up. here is the system producing the rain. it is a slow mover. once the system moves through we will see the rain winding down. here is the computer animation. you notice the front continues to move down to the south. in the morning in the bay area you are still going to see the rain showers, and the showers won't wind down this will early a

while at a south lake tahoe music festival on new years eve. alyssa byrnes' father is in nevada and air and ground searches have been going on all day. kimberly has new details. she joins us live from petaluma where the teenager's mother is waiting and hoping for the best. >> reporter: hoping for the best and hoping her daughter will walk into the front door any time now. today, authorities did expand the search area in lake tahoe and are continuing to conduct interviews, both in lake tahoe and also here in petaluma. friends who saw 19-year-old alyssa byrne right before she went missing say she was not acting like herself. >> she was a really happy personal girl. >> reporter: they were in tahoe for the three-day outdoor snow globe music festival. her friends say on new years eve she left the concert to head back to the hotel by herself. that's when one of her friends say he ran into her in the lobby and something wasn't right. >> she seemed intoxicated or under the influence of some type of drug. >> reporter: this was the last interaction friends had with her. >> we probably called her
door to door at the horizon casino resort in state line, nevada, searching for any signs of 19-year-old alyssa byrne. >> reporter: kim byrne last saw her 19-year-old daughter on saturday when she left their petaluma home with three friends headed for a weekend in south lake tahoe. alyssa texted her parents every day of the trip until she went missing on new year's eve. >> i know that this is very much unlike her to not call or text somebody to let them know that she's okay. >> reporter: alyssa and her friends had gone to a party as that night called snow globe. this is video another person posted on youtube. alyssa took a shuttle from the party to the hotel the horizon on new year's eve. the last her friends heard from her was at about 8:00 that night. >> i'm hoping maybe she is just out there being a typical teenager and just having a great time and letting time slip away from her. >> reporter: alyssa works at cattle man's restaurant in petaluma as a hostess. she is also taking classes at the local junior college to be a firefighter paramedic. she was last seen at a bar at the hori
